EYP Armenia

european ypThe idea of bringing EYP to Armenia came to Suzanna Shamakhyan and Hovsep Patvakanyan in the year of 2012 taking into account the big amount of the active youth in Armenia who were denied the opportunity to express their viewpoints, develop their critical thinking, become a coherent part of socio-economic and political life of Armenia and the EU. EYP has become a very successful platform in these terms for thousands of young people in a very short timeframe. The preparatory works started in July of 2012 with collection of the required documents to apply for the membership at the European Youth Parliament followed by the visit of Dr. Alan Flowers, Governing Body representative of the European Youth Parliament. The submission of the documents was made and one of the EYP Armenia representatives, Amalya Grigoryan, presented our initiative and aspirations at the Meeting of the Board of National Committees (BNC Meeting) in France. Based on the online voting, with 27 in favor, 2 against and 3 abstentions EYP Armenia was given a full membership in the European Youth Parliament on December 14, 2012.  Since then, 25 projects have been implemented which involved around 3000 young people, hosted 400 foreign students from 68 countries of 5 continents, 45 volunteers from Armenia, Georgia, Sweden, Romania, Austria. The major cooperation has been established with World Vision Armenia, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, EU Delegation to Armenia, UNICEF, IPSC, Municipality of Yerevan, American University of Armenia, Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, etc.
